Volkswagen Vento VR6 : on se risque sur le bizarre
Dans l’histoire de l’automobile, il est des modèles auxquels la gloire se refuse obstinément. Que dis-je, la gloire ? Même la notoriété la plus primaire leur est interdite. Leur carrière se déroule dans la pénombre puis, dès que leur fabrication s’achève, ils sombrent dans un oubli dont la longueur ressemble beaucoup à une forme d’éternité. Il en va ainsi de la Vento, sœur aussi massive qu’infortunée de la Golf III et qui, bientôt trente ans après son apparition, ne retiendrait guère l’attention si ce n’est dans sa version la plus inattendue et la plus attachante — j’ai nommé la VR6 ! Greffé dans cette caisse aux proportions improbables et à l’identité flétrie dès sa naissance, le célèbre six-cylindres VW semble a priori autant à sa place qu’André Rieu sur un album de Black Sabbath, mais il importe de se méfier des idées reçues et, à la vérité, ce singulier cocktail wolfsbourgeois (dans tous les sens du terme) mérite bien une nouvelle dégustation…
