Launched in 1964, the Ferrari 275 GTB was the successor to the 250 GT Lusso and, until the appearance of the Daytona, embodied the twelve-cylinder-engined saloon traditionally at the top of the Maranello catalogue. While the 3.3-litre 'Colombo' V12 (hence the name '275', referring to the unit capacity of the engine) remained at the front of the car, the overall architecture had undergone radical changes.The 275 GTB was the first Ferrari to use the transaxle system, in which the gearbox was moved to the rear along with the differential. In addition - another innovation for the Maranello firm - the car also received independent rear suspension. A total of 205 GTB/2 cars were built before Ferrari introduced the GTB/4.

This 275 GTB was delivered new to New York in June 1966 by Luigi Chinetti, Ferrari's historic importer in the United States. Featuring a beautiful original colour combination, Azzurro Salchi over Pelle Nera interior, it was one of only 107 examples to be fitted with the torque tube and 'long nose' bodywork, which were much sought-after because they limited vibrations and were synonymous with greater stability at high speed. Fully restored, our twin overhead cam V12 is "Ferrari Classiche" certified, attesting to its impeccable original pedigree. With a complete history including several participations in the Tour Auto, this Prancing Horse icon is ready to hit the road again.
