History: This Volvo P1800 S left the factory in 1965 and was delivered new to the USA, arriving in France in 2020, when the current owner acquired it. This example is fully matching numbers - chassis, engine and gearbox - with official confirmation from the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg, attesting to its authenticity. This model stands out for its excellent condition, both mechanically and in terms of bodywork. An extensive file of restoration invoices, amounting to some $55,000, details the work carried out to preserve and restore this P1800 S. Since its arrival in France, the car has benefited from numerous interventions to restore it strictly to its original configuration: new carburetors, period grille, new red carpeting, as well as overhaul of the rear suspension and rear silent blocks. An appraisal was carried out in 2023.

General: The car is in very good condition.

Exterior: The bodywork stands out for its excellent overall condition. The Cherry Red paint is tightly stretched and has a beautiful sheen. All removable parts are in good condition, testifying to the care taken in restoring this vehicle. Mirrors, chrome, headlights and 15-inch wheels are all in excellent condition.

Interior: The interior is in extremely good condition, with black leatherette upholstery. The recently replaced red velour carpets are also in excellent condition, with matching piping. The black imitation-covered dashboard is perfectly preserved, and Smiths instrumentation is complete and functional. As an option, this vehicle is equipped with a tulipwood steering wheel with two openwork spokes. It is also equipped with a functional car radio and air conditioning, rare features for a model of this era.

Powertrain: The B18 engine, in its “Sport” version, starts up instantly and delivers smooth, straightforward revs, with a stable idle. There's no suspicious exhaust smoke or visible oil leaks, attesting to well-maintained mechanics. This model is equipped with an M41 mechanical 4-speed synchronized gearbox, complemented by an electrically-controlled overdrive, enabling an overdrive fourth gear. Disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear ensure good braking efficiency.
