FRANCE - Aix-en-Provence
History: This vehicle is one of the very first P1800 Jensens (chassis #159) and was delivered new in Sweden. According to Volvo Museum archives, this car was completed on June 22, 1961, with a factory exit on June 28, 1961. I purchased it in 2023 directly in Sweden, in the Gothenburg region, and drove it back to Aix-en-Provence. After a journey of 2,200 km, crossing Denmark, Germany, and Luxembourg, I arrived at my destination without any issues, with an oil consumption of 0.5 liters per 1,000 km. This once again demonstrates the exemplary reliability of Volvo's B18 engine.
Condition:
General: The vehicle is in good condition and reliable; it managed to travel across Europe from North to South, covering 2,200 km without any mechanical issues. This is an opportunity to purchase one of the very first P1800 Jensens, the oldest in running condition in France, at a very reasonable price.
Exterior: The bodywork shows no signs of rust, but the paint needs to be redone due to a reaction between the paint and the undercoat that caused the paint to blister (photo showing imperfections available). The wheels are very rare Robergel wire wheels, which were offered as an option at the time. They are in very good condition with no signs of damage or rust. All Jensen-specific fittings (bumpers, grille, Volvo logo) are present and in good condition.
Interior: The interior is in good condition; the front seats and the rear bench seat in imitation leather are neither torn nor damaged. The door panels and carpets are also in good condition. The dashboard shows signs of wear. Except for the radio, all dashboard instruments are functional.
Mechanical: The engine, powered by two SU carburetors, runs and starts normally. The gearbox shifts smoothly, with no grinding of gears. The car's road behavior is very good, and it is highly reliable, staying true to the Swedish manufacturer's reputation.
Undercarriage: The undercarriage is sound but shows some imperfections, including some surface rust.
