The Jaguar XK 140 is a significant evolution of the XK120. With a more powerful engine, improved running gear, rack-and-pinion steering and greater interior space, it embodies the elegance and performance of the 1950s.

Our example is precisely an OTS (Open Two Seater) SE (Special Equipment). The SE package includes spoked wheels, fog lamps, dual exhaust and the legendary red C-type cylinder head, boosting power to 210 hp. This is Jaguar Coventry's most desirable model, with 3,281 produced in left-hand drive. It also features front disc brakes and a 5-speed Getrag gearbox, making the car more suitable for today's traffic. Delivered new in 1955, its current owner acquired it in 1988 from a collector in the Monaco region. Between 1992 and 1993, he undertook a complete restoration from the chassis upwards by a recognized specialist. Initially a resident of Monaco, he registered the car in France in 2008.
General: This XK140 OTS SE is in excellent condition, reflecting meticulous maintenance and careful preservation over the years. The major restoration work done 30 years ago is of such high quality that the car remains in a rare condition to this day.

Exterior: During the restoration, the paint was redone in its original "Pearl Grey" shade with a polished finish. It was done with great care, and its appearance is admirable even 30 years later. The tonneau cover in the same color as the interior is in very good condition, while the canvas of the convertible top deserves to be replaced. The convertible top frame is intact. The hood is equipped with louvres to improve cooling. The superb wire wheels are in excellent condition, as are the numerous chrome accents on the car.

Interior: The interior matches the excellent exterior condition. The owner has taken great care of the leather since it was redone, regularly maintaining it. The carpets are in excellent condition. The wooden steering wheel has a beautiful patina. A very discreet radio has been installed. All dashboard instrumentation is functional. The gauge lighting has been improved with LED bulbs, which are invisible and greatly facilitate nighttime reading.

Mechanical: The 6-cylinder engine runs perfectly and offers a very enjoyable driving experience. The Type-C cylinder head option gives it an additional 20 horsepower. The level of performance is impressive for a car from the 1950s. The Getrag 5-speed gearbox allows for much smoother driving than models equipped with the rough 4-speed Moss gearbox. The suspension is held by Koni shock absorbers. Finally, braking is significantly improved with front disc brakes supplemented by power assistance and an adjustable proportioning valve. The power brake booster is discreetly housed in an aluminum housing in the left wing. Good to know: the cylinder head is adapted to run on unleaded fuel.
