History: This E-Type was delivered new to the United States, where it spent most of its life before being imported to France in 2015. The current owner acquired it in 2020 from a collector in the Rouen region and undertook a restoration of the bodywork and interior, restoring it to its original colours.
Condition :
General: This car is in excellent condition.
Exterior : The bodywork was carefully restored in 2021 to its original "Opalescent blue" colour. All the accessories were removed and the gaskets were replaced. The result is of very high quality. The blue soft top has been replaced, and is well fitted and correctly tensioned. As for the numerous chromes that litter this car, some have been kept and others changed depending on their condition.
Interior: The complete upholstery has also been restored (seats, carpets, door trim, centre console, dashboard, boot interior), in the original "Light blue" tones. The wooden steering wheel looks particularly good. All the instruments and on-board equipment are functional. The odometer has been calibrated correctly.
Mechanics: The mechanics work perfectly, so the current owner has decided not to touch them, other than for routine maintenance. It runs smoothly and efficiently. Surprisingly for an E-Type, the sealing is good, with no leaks to be deplored. The cooling has been reinforced to improve reliability. For greater ease of use, the owner has fitted electric power steering. Structurally, the car is very sound.

In 1968, seven years after its birth, the E-Type had reached the age of maturity. The future Jaguar V12 engine was already running - it had been glimpsed on the XJ13 prototype built in 1966 - but it was not yet ready for series production, and so, on the "Series 2", it was once again the valiant XK six-cylinder engine that officiated, in its 4.2-liter version. Compared to the "1 ½ series", the differences are easily identifiable yet tenuous; they correspond for the most part to regulatory changes in the vital US market. Those in the know will immediately spot the headlamps, now prominent and without protective glass, as well as the enlarged turn signals and taillights, now positioned under the bumpers. Inside, this evolution already announces the style of the seventies, with safer features such as new black plastic rockers and modernized seats. But the soul of the car remains intact!
