1960 MG A Chassis n° GHDL84166 French Title
Since 1945 and the immediate post-war period, the MG of the series T marked a whole generation of young people and gained an immense commercial success.
Although evolving during years, the style general started to be obsolete in the middle of the Fifties.
The firm with the octagone reacts and in 1955 to the 24 Hours of Mans, one lives to run two cars MG, of the indicated prototypes with special body EX 182.
A few months later, one re-examines these cars in version customer: the MGA had been born. Name MGA was given for symbolizing well that it was about the first with a real news line. The drawing of this car is absolutely magic, it is a racing car on the road. Its style is much more modern than the mass-production cars T which become day the shortly after antiquities. The engine is him also new a 1500 with valves at the head and two carburettors which does not owe anything with the famous XPAG. In 1956, the range is supplemented by a sublime closed version, the line of indifferent house not leaving anybody. Downward panes and deflectors belong to the doors. The half-compartment is comfortable and very luminous with a large rear window. In May 1959, it is the appearance of the version 1600 with a more powerful engine and front brakes with discs. The production of half-compartment 1600 rose with 1.730 specimens with control on the left between 1959 and 1961. Over the same period, MG manufactured a total of 27.313 roadsters. One can easily deduce that only 6,3% of the MGA 1600 LHD are half-compartments. As much to say that it is almost untraceable.
The model presented was modified in the United States by a son and his father wishing to run with the car. The engine is a Lotus Twin Cam 140 hp.
Then it was sold in Holland where it was entirely restored. Of very beautiful aspect it does not present any trace of corrosion, the interior is irreproachable.
It is very beautiful and rare MGA ready to satisfy its next owner.
