History
This Jaguar XK120 was first registered in Los Angeles in 1953. Imported into Belgium from the United States in 2005, it was restored in 2006. Its current owner acquired it the same year. Originally left-hand drive, this DHC is the rarest of the XK120 models, with only 1,767 produced, of which 1,472 were left-hand drive. What's more, it has matching numbers.
Conditions
This XK120 is in very good condition.
Exterior
Most of the bodywork is in original 'Lavender Grey' paint. It still looks good, despite a few imperfections reflecting the car's age. The 16-inch wheels, mirrors and headlights are in good condition. This example is fitted with a black soft top, which was redone in 2021, and spads in front of the rear wheels, sought-after features that add an extra touch of elegance.
Interior
The interior was fully restored in 2016, with new upholstery and leather seats in very good condition. The carpets and headlining are also in very good condition. The car is fitted with wind-up windows and a very well preserved wood veneered dashboard. The instruments are functional.
Mechanical
The mechanics of this XK120 DHC are in very good condition. The engine is still the original one, rebuilt in 2015. It runs very satisfactorily. The 4-speed transmission works well. The hydraulic disc brakes improve driving pleasure and safety. The tyres were replaced in 2024. The additional fan enhances cooling to improve the car's reliability. The car handles well on the road. Overall, this is a car with surprising performance for a car from the 1950s.
Underbody: The car's underpinnings are sound. Photos are available on request.
