Launched in 1992, the E36-generation M3 made its mark in a way that few sports cars have done. Extremely versatile for its class, beautifully designed and equipped with an anthology six-cylinder engine, the car was an immediate hit, attracting a much wider customer base than its predecessor and making life difficult for some contemporary Porsches. As the engineers in Munich are not the type to rest on their laurels, the model has never stopped evolving - and its most coveted variant today is none other than the GT, presented in 1994 and built in just 356 units.
Compared to a classic M3, the car's bodywork is immediately recognisable by its colour - all GTs come from the factory in the exclusive British Racing Green. Under the bonnet, the S50-type engine has been slightly tuned to deliver 295 bhp. The fittings have also changed, with an adjustable front spoiler accompanied by a double rear spoiler. Finally, to save weight, the doors are made of aluminium.
The French registered car we are offering for sale in Retromobile is entirely original. Delivered new to its first owner in October 1995, it has been serviced in accordance with BMW's maintenance recommendations and has recently had the VANOS system overhauled. The technical inspection (French MOT) carried out in the early days of 2024 is clean. Don't miss this rare opportunity to discover BMW's most desirable M3!
