In the 1990s, a few customers - selected by Aston Martin - had the option of returning their new Virage to the Newport Pagnell factory for disassembly and replacement with a larger factory body (this in-house upgrade was worth the cost of a new Virage...).
And, even rarer still, some customers also benefited from a new engine, the 6.3 pushing the car to 500 hp. In addition to the new engine, these rare cars received more powerful brakes, reinforced suspension, special rims and sportier gear settings.
Here are some figures and details about this model and our car:
- A total of 24 examples are known worldwide, and only 2 are left-hand drive,
- Our Virage is the only known LHD model with manual gearbox,
- Delivered new in Belgium in 1997, it has only had two owners and currently has Dutch papers,
- It has 19,000 original km and a service history that certifies its low mileage,
Described by Fast Lane magazine as “the most aristocratic of convertibles”, our Aston Martin is extremely well documented, with invoices from the outset and meticulous maintenance. A complete file comes with the car, including internal Aston Martin documents showing the complete conversion, done at the factory.
This wide-bodied Virage Volante is probably the rarest Aston Martin convertible, and the most powerful example equipped with a manual gearbox.
