Chassis number: DB4488L
History: This Aston Martin DB4 MK2, delivered new to Canada in 1961, crossed the Atlantic to France in 1998. The current owner acquired it in 2019. The car has not undergone a complete restoration, but it has benefited from notable improvements, including a mechanical update with the installation of a Vantage kit, increasing displacement to 4.2 liters. Part of its history remains incomplete, but registration certificates, a service book and a few invoices document its history. Overall, the vehicle has remained true to its original specifications, although it shows modifications and traces of wear normal to its age.
Condition:
General: This example is in beautiful presentation condition, with preservation faithful to the original.
Exterior: The bodywork is in good condition, despite slight dents on the doors and sills. The paintwork, redone several decades ago in its original Desert White shade, now shows variations in hue and some defects in appearance. The spoked wheels, chrome, headlights and mirrors are well preserved. Please note that the rear plate lighting needs repair.
Interior: The interior of this Aston Martin DB4 is meticulously preserved, offering a unique vintage charm. The red leather front seats have been reupholstered and are in excellent condition, while the original rear seats display a beautiful patina. The carpets and upholstery are well preserved, with traces of normal wear. The unrestored dashboard and instrumentation remain functional and in good condition. A contemporary car radio has been added, bringing a discreet touch of modernity.
Mechanical: Equipped with an updated Vantage-spec engine with three SU carburetors, this Aston Martin offers optimum performance and smooth running. The 4-speed manual gearbox delivers smooth, precise gear changes. For optimum performance, replacement of the 2012 tires is recommended. The braking system also requires attention, with a left front disc in need of replacement.
Underframes : The car's underpinnings are sound and free from perforating corrosion. Note the spraying of anti-gravel and protective wax over the entire underbody.
