FRANCE - Fréjus (83)
Estimate: €18,000 - €23,000
The DS 23 is the most accomplished version of the DS in terms of performance and avant-garde equipment. Our example, delivered new in France in 1973, was already fitted with electronic fuel injection. This DS has had two owners since 2001.
The current owner, a collector, acquired it in 2022 and has carried out some maintenance work.
Condition :
Exterior: The bodywork is in generally good condition. There is a slight blister on the boot, but the paintwork is bright. The chrome and headlights look good. The wheels are in good condition.
Interior: The interior is very attractive, with tan leatherette seats that sit well and have no holes or tears. The dashboard is well preserved, in keeping with its original appearance. The carpets and headlining are in good condition, although there are holes in the side of the fabric headlining.
Powertrain: The car runs and starts well both hot and cold. The engine revs well and the gearbox shifts well. Braking and suspension are good.
Underpinnings: Photos of the underpinnings are available on request.
Recent work: 2023 at the Relais de l'Automobile de l'Esterel.

If all the cars in the "D" series - ID as in DS - are now attracting collectors, the most accomplished among them occupies a special place in the hearts of Citroën enthusiasts. Introduced in the autumn of 1972, just as the model was nearing the end of its life, the DS 23 - particularly in its Bosch electronic fuel injection version - epitomized the French grand tourer, capable of impressive averages in all weather conditions. The 130 hp of its valiant 2347 cm3 four-cylinder engine were transmitted to the ground by means of ground connections which, more than fifteen years after the car's introduction, continued to dominate the competition, sometimes better motorized but unable to keep pace with the Citroën in the rain. With its silhouette largely unchanged - apart from the restyling of the front end in 1968 - its unrivalled comfort and its characteristic quick-tempered bonhomie, the DS in this rig is undoubtedly one of the most desirable!

FAQ about our auctions
Below are all the answers to the questions you may have about our auction service.
No amount will be charged to your bank account. Please feel free to contact us if the car did not reach its reserve price and was not sold.
Yes, you can place a bid from anywhere in the world. However, we recommend reaching out to us regarding any potential tax and customs fees.
If the winning bidder has to cancel their bid, we will be able to offer it to other bidders.
When a bidder activates automatic bidding, they set a maximum amount they are willing to pay for the car. The system then automatically places bids on their behalf to outbid other bidders until the maximum amount is reached. It may also happen to adjust a low bid or to ensure that their bid exceeds others.
