The Aurelia is without doubt one of the most legendary Lancia cars in the company's history - and one of its most important creations since the war. Launched in 1950 as an austerely styled sedan, the car's distinguishing feature was its engine, the very first V6 built in "mass production". The quotation marks are deliberate, as just over 18,000 examples were produced between now and 1958, of which fewer than 3,900 were coupes. Born with a 2-liter 75 hp engine, the two-door body, designed by Ghia but produced by Pininfarina, adopted a 2.5-liter 118 hp engine from 1953. This grand tourer equalled the best achievements of its time and epitomized the Lancia style of the heyday - a subtle blend of performance and technical sophistication, combined with an unostentatious elegance.
