History: This Jaguar Mk II was delivered new to the USA in 1960. The current owner acquired it in 1991 through a specialized importer in Reims. It came from California. He recovered a very sound and functional base. Nevertheless, he launched a complete restoration to start afresh, with a like-new MK2.
Condition:
General: Since its restoration, the car has covered 16,500 km, so it remains in superb condition.
Exterior: The bodywork is in very good condition, as is the taut Midnight Blue paintwork. When the body was restored in the early '90s, it was completely disassembled to achieve good-quality work. Rims, chrome, headlights and mirrors are also in excellent condition.
Interior: During the restoration, the leather and carpets were redone and, according to the owner, are still in as-new condition. The dashboard, apart from a few cracks in the varnish, is also in very good condition.
Mechanicals: Mechanically, the car is in excellent working order. The 6-cylinder 3.8 is original and works perfectly. It has been restored. The automatic gearbox works very well, and shifts smoothly. The front brake calipers are 4-piston, a Zeus system used on the Jaguar XJ6. Combined with a servo brake, braking is very effective. Note that this example has the original power steering, which was a rare option.
Underbody : The car's underpinnings are sound and corrosion-free. The structure has been epoxy-painted for maximum durability. Photos are available on request.
