History: This Pontiac Trans Am 455 HO, one of 1231 with automatic transmission, assembled in Norwood and delivered new to the USA in 1971, was imported to France by its current owner in 2015. As soon as it arrived, he undertook a complete restoration, including a stripping down of the hull and extensive mechanical work to restore it to its original splendor. An impressive file of documents, photos and invoices testifies to the quality and scope of the work carried out. What's more, the car had already benefited from a first restoration in the USA in the 1990s, for which invoices from the previous owner are also available, adding continuity to its detailed history.
The car is Matching Number and has a documented PHS (Pontiac History Service).

Condition:
General: This example is in very good working and presentable condition.

Exterior: The body of this 1971 Pontiac Firebird has been meticulously restored and is now in exceptional condition. The paintwork and bodywork have been meticulously restored by a journeyman coachbuilder to their original hue, and offer a beautiful shine. There are no major defects to report, and every element has been restored to preserve the model's authenticity. The honeycomb rims are in excellent condition, as are the chromes, headlights and mirrors.


Interior: The interior stands out for its excellent state of preservation. The blue leather seats and all interior trim are particularly well preserved. The on-board instrumentation is fully functional.

Mechanical: This Pontiac's powerful 455 Ci V8 engine, fed by its Rochester 800 CFM carburetor, underwent a complete restoration, with full disassembly. During this restoration, many essential parts were replaced, including bearings, segmentation, tappets, as well as water, oil and fuel pumps. The igniter and the entire timing system were also renewed, ensuring optimum reliability. Coupled with a TH400 3-speed automatic gearbox, also reconditioned, the engine offers smooth, high-performance operation, delivering all the power and responsiveness expected of this iconic model.
